Harriet Rohmer is the founder, former publisher, and executive director of Children's Book Press, the award-winning publisher of bilingual and multicultural books for children. Her stories have been published in Passages North, the Louisville Review, and the Jewish Women's Literary Annual. This story is from her forthcoming book, Last of the Refuge Cities.
