David Wolkin is the Director of Communications at AVODAH, as well as an educator, facilitator, writer, and storyteller. He has worked in the Jewish world since 2002 in a diverse range of settings, and is largely concerned with the art of creating Jewish spaces for people. He lives in Maryland with his very patient wife, Keeli, his cats RoboCop and Phineas, and way too many comic books.

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out the whole repentance thing over the years, and I’d like to think I’ve gotten better at it. The enormity of the ideas behind Yom Kippur is tough for me. If you look at the language of the prayers themselves, they’re more than a little scary.
