Marlene Burns is a classically trained artist, receiving both her bachelor's and master's of fine art degrees from the school of design, art and architecture from the university of Cincinnati. Working as a professional artist over the past 40 years, she has taught art, consulted and maintained a private business specializing in commissioned art. Marlene has been represented in galleries and private collections from New York to California, most notably in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Painting has always been her passion; her process is focused and meditative. the hallmarks of her paintings are vibrant color and edgy design. As the founders of abstract expressionism did in their time, marlene experiments with mediums and their mixtures. Because she paints quickly, fast drying acrylic paints, air brush inks, molding pastes and gesso, best suit her style.
Her newest series of hebrew prayers is a marriage of her passion for judaism and it's liturgy and her art. As a religious lay leader, the words, their meanings and the extensive interpretations are in her mind when she creates. Earlier this year, she formed a printing company with her partner, Ken Mirman, to bring her expressive work to a larger audience, as well as promote synagogue and temple fundraising opportunities.
