As an artist who uses digital technology to explore the sacred, creates altars from reclaimed materials and enjoys public ritual I was delighted to perform at the launch of Darcy Lyon’s book “The Wisdom of Desire.” My human canvas was noted author R. “Forbidden Light” Michael whom I painted in front of a live audience while Lyon’s poem, “A New Hunger,” was read. After we left the stage I shot this series of pictures documenting the fruits of our labor.
I have always believed that the arts allow us to reflect on ourselves, enable us to respond to the human condition, increase our ability to be imaginatively engaged with life, and bring beauty and meaning into our existence. Whether we are appreciating the inspired work of another, or are actively engaged in the process ourselves, it is clear that art enriches our day-to-day life in unique and wonderful ways. I conceive of my pieces as healing objects that reflect this expression and once born go on to have a life all their own. You can see more of my work at mimart.wordpress.com
