Bira

From fronting the hardcore punk quartet Gazpacho, to founding and leading folk hip-hop outfit The Illustrated, to singing in an a cappella choir, saying that Bira's musical experience is varied would be putting it lightly.

In his relentless firework display of musical ideas, it's not unusual for a song that crept in with a soft Bjork like entrance, to brazenly explode into Beastie Boys style verses, pouring into a lush Sly and The Family Stone inspired chorus, backed by what could only be described as Hawaiian flavored Nintendo game synths. Another track might just as effortlessly marry Count Basie and Kool Keith with Brian Wilson inspired harmonies, served on a bed of Madlib infused Chick Corea-esque orchestration.

Pulling from such an array of seemingly disparate sources, Bira has created a musical style that is not only distinctly his own, but is also relentlessly free. For more info please visit myspace.com/biramusic
